Caribbean Fictions: Haiti and the Ghosts of Hegemony

Alex Dupuy, a distinguished sociology professor from Wesleyan University, will give a talk “And the State Came Crumbling Down: Haiti Before and After the Earthquake,” at noon Thursday, Feb. 11.

The event, which is open to the public, will be held at the John Hope Franklin Center, Room 240, and includes a roundtable cross-disciplinary discussion with Duke faculty.

• Jean Casimir, former Haitian ambassador to the U.S. and Mellon visiting professor in Latin American and Caribbean studies
• Laurent Dubois, history and Romance studies professor
• Deborah Jenson, French professor
• Michaeline Crichlow, African and African American studies professor
