Duke Tennis to Aid Haiti

February 01, 2010

The Duke men’s and women’s tennis teams will donate money and set up collection areas at every home match throughout the 2010 season to help aid in the Haiti relief effort.

Head coaches Ramsey Smith (men’s) and Jamie Ashworth (women’s) will contribute money to the cause and all team members have already commited funds of their own. In addition to the money from both teams, there will be several donation areas set up at all home matches for fans to help out as well.

At the conclusion of the 2010 home seasons, the money collected will be delivered to an appropriate Haiti relief foundation. In all the Blue Devils have 20 remaining home matches with 10 for both the men’s and women’s teams.

Duke Athletics has helped raise awareness for Haiti relief by wearing Haiti relief patches on the uniforms of all 15 teams currently in competition. Along with the patches, Duke field hockey set up a donations table one afternoon and the Duke women’s basketball team held a bake sale to help raise money for Haiti.
