Attempted robbery reported by student on East Campus

October 09, 2010A Duke University student was held up shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday while walking near a residence hall on East Campus, Duke Police report.
 
The female student told Duke Police she was near Jarvis Residence Hall at about 2:10 a.m. when a man approached, said he had a gun and demanded her purse. The suspect then walked her to the side of the building near Campus Drive. The student was then able to run free from the suspect. No injuries were reported.
 
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s with a stocky build.  He is about 5 feet 4 to 5 feet 6 inches tall and was wearing American Eagle clothing, including a blue hoodie, blue jeans and green ball cap.
