A Duke University student was robbed at gunpoint early Thursday near campus. No one was injured.

The incident occurred at 12:25 a.m. in the parking lot of an apartment in the 1000 block of Ninth Street, said John Dailey, Duke’s chief of police. Two men approached the student , displayed a dark handgun and took the student’s bag before fleeing in a large red pickup truck.

Police encourage Duke community members to consider these and other safety precautions:

•    If a person confronts you and demands money or possessions, comply with the request – do not resist.
•    Record serial numbers of personal electronics to assist in the recovery of stolen items.
