The Duke University Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit provides various services to help deter criminal activity. Along with hosting workshops and engraving personal electronics, the Crime Prevention unit also tracks and analyzes crime patterns to determine specific policing and security strategies.

Safety Presentations
The Crime Prevention Unit conducts safety presentation and workshops for students, staff and faculty.
Electronics Engraving
To help students, staff and faculty protect personal property such as laptops, iPhones and bicycles, the crime prevention unit offers free engraving services.
Alcohol Awareness
To help raise awareness around the dangers of alcohol abuse, Duke police offers alcohol education workshops and impairment demonstrations to student groups and campus organizations.

The Duke University Police Department uses state-of-the-art technology to track and analyze crime patterns and to adjust patrols to address patterns.
Building Safety/Surveys
The Security Systems unit performs security surveys in University and Health system buildings on a scheduled basis and by request.
