Notes

  • Administrative privileges are required to install Oracle Connector for Outlook on Microsoft Windows 2000, and Microsoft Windows XP.

  • Windows XP Service Pack 1 is required, but Oracle recommends Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Disk Space

200 MB minimum

Hard disk usage varies according to configuration. Custom installation options may require more or less hard disk space. The amount of online data the user accesses may also affect the disk space requirement.

RAM

Refer to the RAM requirements of your Microsoft Outlook client.

Microsoft Outlook

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000 (with Service Pack 3)

  • Microsoft Outlook 2002 (with Service Pack 3)

  • Microsoft Outlook 2003 (with Service Pack 2)

Notes:

  • Oracle recommends the service pack versions mentioned above. However, other service packs may also work with Oracle Connector for Outlook.

  • A native language version or Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) is required for non-English version localization.

Calendar Server

Oracle Calendar server 9.0.4.2.x and above

E-mail Servers

  • Oracle Mail server 9.0.4.2.x and above: Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Internet Message Access Protocol 4 (IMAP4), and POP3)

  • Other e-mail servers whose implementations are based upon the open standards of SMTP, POP3, and IMAP4

Note: Reference IMAP4 implementations of CMU Cyrus and University of Washington.

Conduits for PDA Synchronization

  • Blackberry Desktop Manager (BDM) 3.6.0 to 4.1.1.x

    Note: Versions after 3.6.0 require the " Oracle Connector BBDM Patch 1.1" to synchronize with BlackBerry devices. BDM version 4.2 is not supported due to changes made in the BDM software.

  • ActiveSync

    • 4.1 for Pocket PC devices

    • 4.2 or 4.5 for Windows Mobile 5 devices

  • PocketMirror 3.1.6 to 4.1.x

    Note: Chapura PocketMirror is used with Palm Desktop and Palm HotSync to synchronize with Palm devices.

  • Palm Desktop 4.1.4 'Extended version' to synchronize directly between Oracle Connector for Outlook and Palm devices.


Preinstallation Requirements

Before installing Oracle Connector for Outlook, make sure that you have:

  • A supported Microsoft Outlook version installed on a supported platform

  • Administrative privileges for installing Oracle Connector for Outlook on Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000 installed in the Corporate or Workgroup (CWG) mode

    To verify the Microsoft Outlook configuration, select Options, Mail Services, and Reconfigure Mail Support from the Tools menu.


    Caution:

    If you use offline folders, synchronize your offline folders before upgrading to avoid loss of information.

Installation Instructions


Notes:

  • If you have upgraded your Microsoft Outlook installation, then you must reinstall Oracle Connector for Outlook.

  • An upgrade from 10.1.2.x will reset your Oracle Connector for Outlook local storage and restore the default Send/Receive and View settings. Back up any client-side e-mail rules or PDA data before upgrading.


To install Oracle Connector for Outlook:

  1. Exit all Microsoft Windows applications.

  2. Double-click con_outlook_1013.exe to start the InstallShield Wizard.

  3. Click Next on the Welcome screen of the InstallShield wizard.

  4. Enter your name in the User Name field and your company name in the Organization field. Click Next.

  5. Click Next to install in the default folder. To install Oracle Connector for Outlook in a different folder, click Change and navigate to that folder.

  6. Select the languages you want to install. You can add more languages after the installation.

  7. To review the information you entered in the previous screens, click Back. Otherwise, click Install.

  8. Click Finish to start the Configuration wizard. If you intend to configure Oracle Connector for Outlook later, deselect Start Configuration, which is selected by default.

5903363 In certain scenarios, new appointments could not be created in the shared IMAP data calendar folders by the delegates.
5906070 In specific scenarios, the e-mail folder message-header-list may display empty entries when a folder is selected.
5903665 In certain scenarios in Outlook 2000, trying to resolve a name that does not exit in the Global Address List may result in the application freezing.
5929878 In certain scenarios in Outlook 2002, opening other user's calendar folder in a separate window may cause the application to flicker and prevent access to the menu items.
5880698 In certain scenarios, slow performance has been experienced when deleting, copying or moving e-mails messages between IMAP folders.
5859939 5972049 In certain scenarios, the e-mail folder message-header-list may display duplicate e-mail headers for certain messages. The actual message is not duplicated.
5883108 In rare scenarios, for some e-mail messages the header and the body may display as blank. The e-mail message has to be re-downloaded to get the proper content.
5971984 Meeting print preview or the printout did not show the list of attendees who are invited to the meeting.
5907829 Oracle Connector for Outlook has been certified against the latest ActiveSync version 4.5.
5962693 The "Download Option" of the synchronization settings was grayed out when accessed form the Shared or Public store.
5988956 In certain scenarios, users without their own digitally signed certificate could not forward other e-mail messages as an attachment that were digitally signed. 
5896371 In certain scenarios, the "undisclosed-recipients" text will be garbled in the "To" field of the e-mail header when an e-mail is sent with e-mail address in the "Bcc" field only, leaving the "To" and "Cc" fields empty.
