Why Do You Study That: Cement
We produce 4.1 billion metric tons of cement a year. To make this common building material, we need to heat up lime and clay to 1450 degrees. Fossil fuels are required to heat that high, contributing to the carbon dioxide problem. Learn more about how engineering professor Laura Dalton is studying ways to make this cement more environmentally friendly.
