Robert Shepard

Vice President, Alumni Affairs and Development

Bob Shepard joined Duke in 1995 as executive director of development. He was appointed vice president of alumni affairs and development in 2004. Shepard oversees strategic planning and operations for the offices of Alumni Affairs, University Development and Strategic Planning. He coordinates fundraising programs across campus and has responsibility for alumni programming and the Duke Alumni Association.

Prior to coming to Duke, Shepard worked at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was vice dean for external affairs at the university's School of the Arts & Sciences. He also worked as vice president for development at Roosevelt University. Shepard holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, a master's degree from the University of Iowa and a bachelor's degree from Trinity College.
